Little Update

•March 18, 2009 • 2 Comments

Not much going on today guys.  I’m currently sitting in the library of MDC’s Homestead campus, waiting for my friend to show up so I can help her with her project in our computer class.  Nothing exciting really…Most of the Juniors in SAS are on a College Tour until Friday, so the campus has even less people right now.  I told them to bring me back brochures. =P  Youth group tonight, and I s’pose that’s all there is to say.  Life is good, so thank God for that.

Tuesday Song of the Week

•March 17, 2009 • 2 Comments

I have quite a challenge today…It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and I have plenty of Celtic-ish songs to choose from, but which one will I pick?  I s’pose I’ll settle on…

The Rotten Hand by Flatfoot 56

Build your brother up, tear your anger down
throw your fist into the air, tell all your friends
that you’ll stand strong until the end
let them all know their Father cares

I’ve been alone since the day I was born
living my life just for myself
just drinking and eating, but never believing
going to church just for my health

One day the man of God stood and he told me
the Father’s got a plan for my life
well this news hit my head, like a punch from uncle Ned

So I went and found meself a wife
well I found meself a girl, who was lovely as a pearl
until she turned out to be a man
well I puked and I screamed, cause she wasn’t as she seemed
man, I got dealt a rotten hand

Well the moral of my story was the tale of my pride
it’s my own selfishness that lied
for if I follow my own plan, I will falter at the end
my Father’s got a plan for my life
So now I follow Him with my back turned from sin
lead me on my Father Adonai I will be your man
I will be the one to stand, thanks for being the guide of my life

Handle With Care!

•March 13, 2009 • 1 Comment

Sorry.  I’m eating a cup ramen, and it has that “CAUTION: HOT!” label on it.  It actually is very hot.

Anyhoo, not much is going on with me.  I’m at home relaxing, on Facebook, listening to music, etc.  While on Facebook, I learned something quite awesome: a friend of mine whom I’ve known since like, kindergarten, became a Christian a few months ago.  Words can’t express how happy I am at this news!  Ralphy was always the class clown and such, so everyone liked him.  Then after elementary school, we kind of lost touch through all except the internet…But today I noticed a status update on Facebook from him, so I looked at some of his past updates too, commented on one of them, and he wrote back telling me that he accepted Christ on October 24th, 2008 and hasn’t been the same since.

Awesome way to start the day.  Hopefully it gets better, ’cause this evening at the Starbucks in Florida City, some friends and I are having a game night/early birthday thing with Rebecca, seeing as she’s here on Spring Break and won’t be here for her birthday.

More awesome news: The Saturn Project’s debut album, Anthems For A Broken World, comes out today!  Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!  This album’s going to change the world for people in Cambodia, and knowing that is an awesome feeling!

PC290643

•March 12, 2009 • 4 Comments

I’m currently sitting at a computer labeled PC290643 in the library of MDC’s Homestead campus.  I just finished with my computer class about a half hour ago, and right now I’m just chillin’…Waiting until 2:30 when I’ll go to take my first psych test.  I also need to conduct an interview with my psych professor in order to begin work on my next essay for English.  The fun never stops, eh?

Don’t forget that The Saturn Project’s debut album, Anthems For A Broken World, comes out TOMORROW!  Buy music, do good.

Tuesday Song of the Week

•March 10, 2009 • 2 Comments

Chris Day alerted me to the fact that I hadn’t posted a song today.  I completely forgot that today was Tuesday!  So here we are, a last-minute song from Jeremy Larson (if you’d like to keep up with him, I added him to my blogroll yesterday, so you can check out his blog too) :

The Sound Of Snow :
Grace
Its just a word until today
Trust
The lives of ever changing gray
Hear
We’re hearing words so far away
Tears
We speak for things that words can’t say

Here
In the quiet, quiet Midnight sky
Found you near
Just above the wind I heard you sigh
I am home
You’re not alone
You are mine
You are mine

In the red, in the blue
Through the dark the light, the beauty of the new
It is you in the sound of snow, in a winter’s glow
So this is where I must live, just above the sunrise

Sunrise

Grace
Its just a word until today
Trust
This life of ever changing gray

In the red, in the blue
Through the dark the light, the beauty of the new
It is you in the sound of snow, in a winter’s glow
So this is where I must live, just above the sunrise
Sunrise

Fight this known summer
Fight for my life
And I’m seeing midnight sunrise
Lighten up the sky, the sky

You’re the red, you’re the blue
Through the dark the light, the beauty of the new
It is you in the sound of snow, in a winter’s glow
So this is where I must live, just above the sunrise
Sunrise

Monday-ay-ay!

Sugoi!

So, in English class today, we got back our graded essays.  You rmemeber?  The rhetorical analysis essay I had to do on the movie Fight Club?  Well, it’s 25% of our grade in the class, so I was quite nervous.  The grade I saw surprised me to no end: A+.  An A+!!  Holy wow!  Of course, my essay had its faults and mistakes, but somehow my professor (who apparantly has a reputation as a ahrd grader) thought my essay was good enough for an A+!!  Heck yes son!!=D

That’s all I wanted to say. =P

Tuesday Song of the Week

•March 3, 2009 • 8 Comments

As much as I’d love for this week’s song to be “So Alive” by The Saturn Project, I can’t find lyrics, and given my human nature, I don’t trust myself to accurately write down the lyrics.
So instead of the song I’ve listened to literally 80+ times since Saturday evening, this week’s song will be:

Thousand Things by Disciple

As the sun comes up, Lord I see You
As the wind blows on my face, Lord I feel You (2x)
Sometimes I don’t know what to say
When my heart wants to praise
And I have concluded of You
That I barely know anything about You at all
Cause Lord if You showed me a thousand things
Brand new about You everyday
I still would never see the fullness of Your glory
Lord if You gave me a thousand years
To try and count up all the ways
That You have shown to me
That You are just not enough
You are too much
As the river flows, Lord I hear You
As the rain falls on face, Lord I feel You (2x)

Sometimes I don’t know what to say
When my heart wants to praise
And I have concluded of You
That I barely know anything about You at all
Cause Lord if You showed me a thousand things
Brand new about You everyday
I still would never see the fullness of Your glory
Lord if You gave me a thousand years
To try and count up all the ways
That You have shown to me
That You are just not enough
You are too much
I know You know me
Better than I know myself
But I want to know You
Even though I know my mind
Can’t hold it all

Cause Lord if You showed me a thousand things
Brand new about You everyday
I still would never see the fullness of Your glory
Lord if You gave me a thousand years
To try and count up all the ways
That You have shown to me
That You are just not enough
You are too much

Global Music MOVEment!

•February 27, 2009 • 2 Comments

Ever thought to yourself “hm.  I’d love to do good in the world, but I’m just a nobody.  What can I do?”?  Well, get ready, ’cause starting March 13th, 2009 you’ll have your chance to do good!  Our buddies in The Saturn Project release their debut album on that day.  You can buy a copy for just $10 (which is still cheaper than most CDs out in stores), and the best part is that by buying great music, you’ll be helping a great cause!  The full profits – that’s right, all 100% – go towards helping impoverished families in Cambodia get relocated to good houses, as well as to help them have clean water, health clinics, and other benefits.  The guys of the band aren’t getting a single cent of that money.  Neither is Life Pointe Church or People for Care and Learning (the organization that’s helping TSP do this).

You can visit their website here if you haven’t already.  Feel free to explore the site, read up on the mission, and download TSP’s first single.

March 13th; do some good, buy some music.

Tuesday Song of the Week

•February 24, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I’ve been listening to Jeremy Larson for over a week straight now, so let it come as no surprise that this week’s song is by…Haste The Day??

Stitches by Haste The Day

Five words, five words is all it would take.
Five words to change your heart and mind.
In the heat of the sun I know you’re the only one.
You still can’t hold yourself together.
Alone… Alone… All alone you have this conversation to satisfy your most intimate inner thoughts.
Then you bite your lip when it matters most.
A shade of red in sight.
Can you taste the blood?
Taste it on your lips.
Rip the seam.
Then I’ll show you how the strings become the stitches in your mouth.
In your silence we are louder.
When the strings become the stitches in your mouth.
Your growing imagination preparing you for what your heart requires to say.
Five words, repeating over in your head.
That’s all you ever have to do.
Five words, repeating over in your head.
That’s all you ever have to do.
Five words.
Is it really that hard to say you’re worth more that this?
You’re
worth
more
than
this.
Rip the seam.
Then I’ll show you how the strings become the stitches in your mouth.
In you silence we are louder.
When the strings become the stitches in your mouth.

Case of the Mondays

•February 23, 2009 • 4 Comments

Final final final copy of the essay is due Wednesday.  I have some things I need to tweak, but nowhere near as many as most of my classmates.  But I’m more excited because next class I’ll recieve my second letter of recommendation!  Each letter pushes me a giant step forward towards going to Japan.  I really want to go.  Can you tell? ;D

I’ve gotten into the Twitter thing lately (despite not having a text-able phone), so if y’all want to follow me, find me on Twitter under ritzcrackah.

ありがとう。
