Oh. Em. Gee.
I’m alive! Holy wow! It’s been over a month since I’ve even visited this site, let alone posted a blog on it. In reality, not much has been happening though. But I did just write this, so if you care for my music, enjoy:
| 2007 Music Picks |
| So yeah, 2007 is almost over, and (I checked) there aren’t any more good albums coming out this year (unless you count Skillet’s Deluxe Edition of Comatose), so I’ve compiled my top picks for best albums and songs of 2007. Let’s hope you care! =D (*Note: All albums, artists, and songs are Christian)
Top 10 Albums 1) Tough choice, but I’d have to say that Demon Hunter’s “Storm The Gates of Hell” topped my list. For this album DH spent more time in the studio recording and producing. And it shows. Some of their best songwriting to date. They are also one of the best bands when it comes to incorporating the hardcore growling with the melodic choruses. For fans of Slipknot and Mudvayne. 2) Also tough, but As I Lay Dying’s “An Ocean Between Us” was most definitely their best album thus far. After listening to this album, it is no longer hard to tell who is the best drummer in all of metal. Jordan Mancino takes the cake. The guitars sounded amazing, and the melodic choruses were an excellent touch. 3) I found out these guys were Christian a little late, so I haven’t been able to fully appreciate the album yet, but simply due to their sheer success because of this album, 3 goes to Paramore’s “Riot!”. 4) After losing lead singer Jimmy Ryan, Haste The Day wasted no time finding a replacement and moving on, although it meant changing their style a lot. They went from being a solid melodic death/black metal act on their first two cds to softening up with their current metalcore/hardcore style. But the fans were oh-so responsive to “Pressure The Hinges”. Haste The Day certainly had a good year. 5) At 5 I’m putting Oh, Sleeper’s “When I Am God.” I found out about them a few months ago, but I was immediately impressed. This album is a must-have for fans of UnderOath, only these guys might get even bigger. Watch for Oh, Sleeper in Homestead on February 15th, 2008. 6) For 6 I chose The Showdown’s “Temptation Come My Way.” Sure, they made a complete 180-degree turn from what they were on their first album, but this record shows that they can pull it off. Metallica-style thrash metal makes a comeback with The Showdown! 7) Just because I love these guys, and the three additional songs were totally worth it, at 7 (the perfect number!) comes Family Force 5’s “Business Up Front, Party In The Back: Diamond Edition.” These guys surpass their previous efforts with these three aditional songs: “I Love You To Death”, “Face Down”, and “Never Let Me Go”, the latter recently reaching 1 on the charts. 9) I’d hate to put it this low on the list, but 9 is The Devil Wears Prada’s “Plaugues”. It was indeed an excellent and much more mature follow-up to the ever-so-popular “Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord”. 10) Last, but certainly not least it’s…A tie! Yes, a tie between The Almost’s debut “Southern Weather”, and Relient K’s “Five Score And Seven Years Ago”. Top 10 Songs of 2007 1) “Fading Away” by Demon Hunter 2) “Luv Addict” remix by Family Force 5 3) “Misery Business” by Paramore 4) “Forsaken” by As I Lay Dying 5) “Stitches” by Haste The day 6) “Say this Sooner” by the Almost 7) “I Love You To Death” by Family Force 5 9) “Oh! Gravity!” by Switchfoot 10) Tie between “Lie To Me” by 12 Stones and “Never Let Me Go” by Family Force 5 |
